Upcoming Weekend Intensive - Healing Psyches, Healing Souls
The Shifa' Foundation is planning to host a two-and-a-half day intensive by three of the nation's top Islamic scholars at the University of Michigan in Dearborn. This exciting event, which will examine the importance of appropriating traditional sprituality in our lives and the challenges involved in doing so, is scheduled for Friday, May 20th, thru Sunday, May 22nd — which is just a couple of weeks away. This weekend intensive, which has been entitled Healing Psyches, Healing Souls: The Challenges of Spirituality for American Islam, will be conducted by Dr. Umar Farooq Abd-Allah (Nawawi Foundation), Dr. Sherman Jackson (ALIM), and Imam Zaid Shakir (Zaytuna Institute), insha'llah.

Having just attended the Nawawi Foundation's "Connecting to God in Today's World" with Shaykh Hamza Yusuf and Dr. Umar Faruq Abd-Allah, I can guess that this next intensive will be great (as if there was any doubt). Dr. Umar recommended the upcoming intensive actually, even to those who attended this one. He said they'd overlap a little, but that that shouldn't be a reason not to go, as they are actually a bit different. I only wish I could attend the other one, as this one was so powerful for me (it was also the first time I got to see Shaykh Hamza and Dr. Umar and Dr. Mattson speak in person).
as-salamu 'alaykum,
Thanks for the nice comments...which made me want to attend this intensive even more. I attended a Nawawi Foundation weekend intensive a couple of years ago, featuring Sidi Hamza and Dr. Umar, and it too was "powerful".
