Shafi'i Fiqh Resources

This post is more of a question than a statement, since I'm hoping to obtain some information from my well-informed readers. My question is...If one were considering adopting the Shafi'i madhhab, are there any good resources in English for learning about it other than the ones listed below?

Posting it the second time. If the first passes through, please delete either one.

Assalamualaikum.
There is another Shafi'i text called Risalah al-Jami'ah by Habib Ahmad bin Zayn al-Habsyi avaialble in English. It has been translated by Sidi Abdul Aziz Ahmed of Glasgow, and has been renamed Essentials of Islam. The first edition is already out of print. There may be reprinting of the text, with correction for the first, available in the future. I do have with me the corrected version and the Arabic version in PDF, courtesy of the syeikh, but it is unfortunately private copies. People can ask directly from the syeikh or wait for future printing.

Assalamau'alaykum

Do you mean only those that have been translated into English? Here's a list of Shafi'i texts—in the order of the sequence taught—in Tarim. I'm not sure whether there exists English translations though. It seems that only the 'Ar-Risalah al-Jami'a' and the 'Umdah as-Salik' has been translated into English.

1. Ar-Risalah Al-Jami'a
2. Safinah An Naja
3. Al-Mukhtasar Al Latif
4. Al-Muqaddimah Al Hadhramiyyah
5. Matn Abi Shuja
6. Al Yaqut An-Nafis
7. Az-Zubad
8. Umdat As-Salik
9. Minhaj At Talibin

As-salamu 'alaykum,

In the original posting I was only interested in Shafi'i fiqh books that have been translated into English, since there's obviously a great deal more books out there in Arabic.

Anyway, a good and reliable source for Shafi'i fiqh books in Arabic is Fadak Books, so those who are interested should check out their Shafi'i Fiqh section.

Enjoy...
