Anis Shorrosh and the Fire
The American Muslim (TAM) recently posted an interesting story which contains some links [(1)(2)] about the infamous Islam-basher and Arab Christian Evangelist Anis Shorrosh:
Anis Shorrosh and the Suspicious FireAllahu 'alim, but since I don't see Dr. Shorrosh as the worst of the worst as far as Islam bashers go, maybe God is trying to send him a wake-up call before it's too late. However, we should not be surprised when people who knowingly lie about Islam and our Noble Messenger—salla Allahu 'alayhi wa salam—are brought low.

For those of you who aren't familiar with it, Shorrosh's book Islam Revealed: A Christian Arab's View Of Islam is a masterpiece of double-standards, bigotry and laughable ignorance. And for those who haven't seen it, his debate with Ahmed Deedat, which took place in London's Royal Albert Hall, is a classic. I believe that all or most of it can be found on YouTube.com.
Which reminds me...seventeen or so years ago when I first became interested in Islam, I ordered a copy of Anis Shorrosh's debate with Ahmed Deedat directly from his evangelical organization in Alabama. Even though one of his newsletters claimed that Muslims, allegedly fearing that more people would see his devastating anti-Islamic material, were editing out portions of his debates when they published them. However, I noticed that in the video that I received from his organization, Ahmed Deedat gave a very brief reply to a question from a Christian who wanted to know how we can be sure that Prophet Muhammad—salla Allahu 'alayhi wa salam—is not the Anti-Christ. Even at that time I'd seen enough of Shaykh Deedat to know that if you give the man two minutes for a rebuttal, he was going to take all or most of the two minutes. In this case, however, his reply was oddly brief.
My curiosity got the best of me, and I ended up ordering a video of the same Shorrosh-Deedat debate from the New York office of Deedat's own Islamic Propagation Centre International (IPCI). As soon as the video arrived, I anxiously fast-forwarded to the part where Deedat is asked the question about Prophet Muhammad—salla Allahu 'alayhi wa salam—being the Anti-Christ. However, on this tape...surprise, surprise...Ahmed Deedat was shown giving a lengthy response to the question...and a rather pointed one at that. Thus it was Anis Shorrosh, or at a minimum his organization, that I had caught red-handed editing the responses of the Muslims...seemingly out of fear of its potentially devastating impact. The TRUTH has a way of doing that, you know!
"Truly, those who oppose God and His Messenger will be disgraced, as those before them were disgraced..." (Qur'an 58:5)

Shalom,
I saw that debate too, a long, long time ago. Tell me the truth, Mr Anis Shorrosh was pretty comical, wasn't he?
Wa 'alaykum ash-shalom,
Yes, he looked like quite the clown, all dressed up in fancy Arab garb that he never wore except when trying to put on a show and in a desperate attempt to lend credibility to his Arabness (which was really lacking in terms of language)...click here to see a picture. All of this stands in stark contrast to Ahmed Deedat, who dressed in his usual simple, yet very dignified, Islamic attire.
The entire debate between Anis Shorrosh and Ahmed Deedat, which was entitled The Qur'an or The Bible: Which is God's Word?, can be found in its entirety here.
Enjoy...
Here are a couple [(1)(2)] of other YouTube videos regarding this. Notice how the narrator on the second one says "Muzleems"! I don't get it, since the word "Muslims" is really not that difficult to pronounce for a native English-speaker. It's not like it's full of Arabic letters like 'ayn, ghayn or daad which some people have difficulty with. Will they ever get it right?
Here's another worthwhile clip, this one from his debate with Jamal Badawi and entitled Anis Shorrosh Humiliated, which demonstrates not only his deceptive antics, but his lack of Arabic language skills. Shorrosh's attempts to change the subject and sidetrack the issue failed utterly...
As-Salaamu 'alaikum,
A few years ago, in response to one of a series of anti-Muslim rants by a nobody calling himself Will Cummins, who inexplicably got a column in the Sunday Telegraph, a nutcase with links to the British Nazi Party made the accusation about the anti-Christ in a letter to that paper. These people are ignorant of Christian theology; among the characteristics of the Anti-Christ is deceiving the Jews with dishonest miracles, when in fact the Prophet (sall' Allahu 'alaihi wa sallam) saw very few Jews convert to Islam. Even today, people rarely go from being practising Jews to being Muslims. Nothing about any description of the Anti-Christ resembles the Prophet (sall' Allahu 'alaihi wa sallam).
